John Oxx worried over Skitter Scatter prep

John Oxx admits he’d have chosen longer to have ready Skitter Scatter because of her crack in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown following week.
Once her trainer opted to relinquish his license and join forces A Group One-winning juvenile for Patrick Prendergast, the filly transferred to John Oxx.
She just made her comeback at Tipperary and led to Newmarket as a fancy for the Qipco 1000 Guineas, however picked up an injury last week.
The gap between races is a slight concern while Oxx was pleased with her run to finish second.
“She is in great shape and she came from her latest race in great shape,” said Oxx.
“She’s a pretty simple filly to train and also has a nice attitude to her job. She’s enough and she’s generous, although she’s very willing, maybe not an over-exuberant worker.
“We’ve been happy with her because her race. We’re delighted to receive her there.
“She ran a fantastic race, so she didn’t win, which I’d have liked her to do, but it was perfect really since she had a nice race. She got tired and awakened in the last furlong.
“We were lucky to have the ability to receive her there and make to run her good earth. It could happen to be what would we have done and a bog – would we have not or conducted her.
“We got away with this. Unfortunately it’s only 16 days to the Matron today, I would have preferred three months, but it is what it is and we expect that she can progress enough at that 16 days to conduct another race that is fantastic.
“It has not been ideal, but we need to be happy that she has been in great shape along and has kept moving the perfect way.”
